Prince Harry and Meghan Have Been Spotted Delivering Food to Those In Need During COVID-19 Crisis

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are well known for charitable natures, even before they met each other. So it’s no surprise they’ve teamed up now to hit the streets and help those who are especially in need during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

Although they’re still just getting settled into their new lives in Los Angeles, Harry and Meghan didn’t waste time reaching out to Project Angel Food, which delivers free meals to those dealing with life-threatening illnesses. According to Entertainment Tonight, it was Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, who tipped the couple off that the organization was in need of some extra support right now.

“They told us they heard our drivers were overloaded and wanted to volunteer to lighten the drivers’ workload,” Richard Ayoub, executive director of Project Angel Food, told ET. “I am blown away that they chose us. They care about our vulnerable population. Our clients are most at risk to contract the coronavirus, having compromised immune systems including heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and most are over the age of 60.”

The organization has seen a significant increase in numbers since the start of the COVID-19 crisis with 400 new clients signing up in recent weeks. Before the current situation, they received about five to seven calls a day — that has since increased to 50 to 70.

Harry and Meghan first made deliveries over Easter weekend and then again on April 15. “They were extremely engaged, asked a lot of questions about the people we serve,” Ayoub told CBS Los Angeles. He also described them as “incredibly kind and humble” and didn’t want to be called by their duke and duchess titles.

Security footage shows Harry and Meghan dressed casually and adhering to CDC guidelines with face coverings as they made their deliveries. The protective gear also made them almost unrecognizable, Ayoub said. “We did get some calls later saying, ‘Was that who we thought that was?’”

We couldn’t agree with Harry more: We all need to take care of each other!
