#TGIF: 3 Feel-Good Stories To Help You Have an Inspiring and Joyful Weekend

Tags:

Need a simple way to relax after a hectic week? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the eighth-edition of our weekly Feel Good Friday Roundup series, which features three positive stories that are sure to make you smile all weekend long!

1. A Young Baseball Fan Kindly Returns a Ball During a Recent Orioles Game

Catching a foul ball during a baseball game takes a bit of luck, but many consider it to be the perfect souvenir to take home. A young baseball fan was fortunate enough to experience this stroke of luck recently, while watching his first-ever game at Oriole Park in Baltimore.

Rather than keeping the ball for himself, he kindly decided to return it back to the players, as seen in the clip below. But, watch until the end for a sweet surprise!

2. 60 Years of Mosquito Research Pays Off With This New Online Tool

Love spending time outside in warm weather and soaking up the sun, but hate having to fend off mosquitoes and other insects?

Good news: Insect repellent brand OFF! recently unveiled the “OFF!Cast Mosquito Forecast” on their site. This forecast provides a seven-day look at how many mosquitoes will be in your area – using a rating of “low” to “severe.” With this tool, you’ll be more prepared to sidestep bothersome mosquitoes when you’re taking a stroll outside or attending a BBQ.

The online feature was built in partnership with Google Cloud, Climate Engine, and SCJ Johnson. “We’re excited to contribute our 60+ years of mosquito research to build a tool that can help consumers protect themselves and their families,” says Maude Meier, PhD, senior research scientist at SCJ Johnson.

To get started, simply type your zip code into the OFF!Cast Mosquito Forecast and see what results come up for the week. Also, check out this story on how to avoid mosquito bites all spring and summer long!

3. Tawny Owl Steps up To Take Two Rescue Chicks Under Her Wing – Literally

Nature will often provide some unexpectedly touching moments — like this sweet one between a tawny owl named Luna and the two rescue chicks she decides to mother.

The chicks were placed in Luna’s nest by Robert E. Fuller, a UK-based wildlife artist, who captured the moment and shared it on his YouTube channel.

“I regularly place orphaned or lost owlets into tawny owl nests and these birds accept the young chicks as their own. Their urge to protect and nurture is strong,” he wrote in the description box. “And the event also brings the story round full circle since Luna is herself a rescued tawny owl, raised herself by owls here at Fotherdale who fostered her in 2017.”

Watch the tawny owl swoop into action to save the two chicks in the video below.

We hope you enjoyed the eighth-edition of our weekly Feel Good Friday Roundup. Have an inspiring and joy-filled weekend!
