New Mom Put On Bikini Without Much Thought. Then, Another Woman Got in Her Face About Her “Recovering” Belly

Mom Lexi Sinclair was excited to take her 4-month-old son to the pool for a relaxing summer day. She didn’t expect to be shamed by a stranger for something as innocuous as her bathing suit.

But that’s exactly what happened.

As Sinclair explained on her Facebook page, an older woman at the pool came up to her asking seemingly harmless questions about her baby before confronting her about her appearance.

Sinclair wrote, “She then proceeded to tell me that the men at the pool would feel more comfortable if I was in a one-piece swim suit because a bikini isn’t appropriate for a mother, especially one who’s ‘still recovering.'”

By “still recovering,” of course, the woman meant that she still had loose skin on her belly and was still carrying a few extra pounds from the baby.

But it’s Sinclair’s response to the woman that made her picture go viral.

She wrote, “I just smiled, kissed my son and told her, ‘I’m proud of my body. In just one year I’ve gained 50 pounds, and lost 37. I’ve grown a human and given birth to a beautiful miracle. My body provided food for my child. So, no, my body might not be the best sight for other men to see. My stretch marks and tummy pudge might not be sexy. But they’re proof that I’ve done something amazing, and I have a man that loves me and finds me even sexier and more beautiful now.'”

We couldn’t agree more, Lexi! P.S. You look fantastic!
