Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Announce Exciting New Charitable Project
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have announced an exciting new project, which falls under their charitable foundation, Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who relocated to California earlier this year, have been busy working behind the scenes bringing their dream into fruition as they delve into their new lives as financially independent royals.
Over the weekend, it was revealed the they will be partnering with José Andrés and World Central Kitchen — a charitable organization which helps to feed communities after natural disasters. Archewell’s work with the not-for-profit will include building community relief centers — these will act as kitchens in the critical moments after a natural disaster and during crisis. They can also be used as distribution centers and shelters for families who need it during those times.
Harry and Meghan offered a joint statement about this new partnership. “The health of our communities depends on our ability to connect to our shared humanity,” they explained. “When we think about Chef Andrés and his incredible team at World Central Kitchen, we’re reminded that even during a year of unimaginable hardship, there are so many amazing people willing — and working tirelessly — to support each other.”
At present, there are communities shelters already being built. Namely one in Dominca, which is still suffering the aftermath of devastating hurricanes in 2017. Another is being worked on in Puerto Rico, while an additional two are yet to be announced.
This marks yet another inspiring project in the works from both Harry and Meghan. Last week, the pair revealed they were launching a podcast via Spotify which will shine a light on diverse, uplifting, and informative perspectives. After almost a year since their initial announcement that they would be stepping back from their senior royal roles, these two have sure done a lot.
