Will It Snow During the Super Bowl?

With the biggest game of the year just around the corner, we’re sure many football fans are wondering what the weather will be during the Super Bowl. According to CNN forecasters, a deep freeze sweeping the country this week is set to make cities like Chicago even colder than parts of Antarctica. Brr!

The Weather Channel warns that a polar vortex has brought “dangerously cold” conditions to the Midwest the week before the game, with some parts of the region seeing the chilliest weather observed in two decades. But the Midwest is not the only part of the country that needs to exercise caution in this weather.

The National Weather Service has issued several wind chill warnings and weather advisories throughout the Midwest, the Northeast, and even the southern Appalachians. And it sounds like this teeth-chattering cold isn’t going away anytime soon: The Weather Channel reports that a “wintry mess” may spread across the Great Lakes, Plains, and the Midwest during Super Bowl weekend itself and possibly into the following Monday.

Even Atlanta — the city set to host the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams this year — has had a winter weather advisory in effect ahead of the big game, The Weather Channel reports. Thankfully, winter weather is not expected for the hosting city on the actual game day. However, it should be noted that some rain is a possibility.

But no matter what happens outside during the football game, it’s a good thing most of us will be staying warm inside enjoying a Super Bowl party. Of course, you’ll definitely want to bundle up and take it slow if you do end up going outside. Your health and safety during winter weather is certainly nothing to mess around with. So, be sure to stay tuned to your local weather forecast to see what kind of impact the snow will have on your area.

In the meantime, this is a great excuse to stock up on all of the best Super Bowl snacks now!
