Why Gwyneth Paltrow Will Never Get Botox Again — And What She Does Instead
Gwyneth Paltrow, the iconic actress and founder of the wellness empire Goop, is a woman as famous for what she puts in her body as the clothes and products we see on the outside.
The 46-year-old, who is the star of Netflix’s new show The Politician, always looks absolutely incredible, so it’s no surprise that people often wonder if the Iron Man actor has gone under the knife or had injections like Botox and fillers.
In the past, Gwyneth has mainly credited her healthy diet and intense exercise regimen for her youthful complexion and fit body. But, she has also had a little sprinkle of help from her doctor.
Gwyneth says she has previously had Botox, but soon realized that the procedure wasn’t a good call. “[I’ll] try anything, except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I looked like Joan Rivers!”
Now, she puts her good skin down to a high-end skincare regimen and regular treatments.
And she has ruled out any more invasive procedures, such as fillers or a facelift.
“I use organic products, but I get lasers. I’ve probably tried everything. I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50. I’ll try anything,” she said.
And she recently told Elle magazine exactly what she gets done at her facialist: “I go for hardcore squeezing, peeling, microdermabrasion, and lasers. The works.”
Yet it’s not all kale and spin classes.
Gwyneth also confessed to one naughty habit: “I smoke once a week, on Saturday night. It’s what makes life interesting, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu.”
But this wouldn’t be a proper story about Gwyneth Paltrow without an anecdote about the crazy beauty treatments she’s undergone over the years.
In 2016 she told The New York Times that she had tried apitherapy, or “bee venom therapy,” which involves being injected with bee venom to supposedly help reduce inflammation and injuries.
“I’ve been stung by bees. It’s a thousands-of-years-old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful,” Gwyneth revealed.
Needless to say, please don’t try that one at home.
