In this case, was the coverup worse than the crime? That's the joke some are making after a female meteorologist, Liberté Chan, was made to change her outfit while doing her weather forecast live on the air, after viewers began writing in to the network--KTLA in southern California--to say that her dress was inappropriate.
The clip of her being asked to put on a gray sweater over her black, sparkly dress is going viral after Chan herself posted it to Facebook:
But shortly after, other viewers were quick to jump to her defense, saying she never should have been shamed--especially while live on the air--for her clothing choices or for simply doing her job.
"In the history of news, has a man been asked to change his clothes--ON AIR--because viewers were unhappy with what he was wearing?" one woman wrote on Twitter after seeing the viral clip.
"KTLA owes @libertechan an on-air apology!" another commenter complained.

For her part, Chan seems unbothered by the wardrobe incident, and wants people to know that she's taking it all in stride.
"I’ve worked on-air for 10 years and by now, I’ve learned that everyone has an opinion and you have to have a thick skin to work in this business. It’s a visual medium and sometimes your outfit works and sometimes it doesn’t," she wrote in a post on her blog.
"For the record, I was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater," she added. "I was simply playing along with my co-anchor's joke, and if you've ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time. It was never our attention to offend anyone."
What do you think of her on-air look--and the reaction to it?
