A 46-year-old man is suing his ex-fiancé for over $60,000 after she left him five months before their wedding.
Joseph DiTomaso and Jamie Cohen met while working together in 2011. After a passionate courtship, the pair opened a travel agency together.
In 2013, the duo moved in together, with DiTomaso apparently buying $12,000 worth of new furniture for the couple. This was also the same year Joseph DiTomaso proposed with a "pricey" $48,000 ring. It sounds like something from a fairy tale, but sadly this story does not have a happy ending.
In 2015, Cohen and DiTomaso broke up just five months before their wedding. She left the home they shared together, taking both the ring and his dog with her. Ouch.
Court papers explained that DiTomaso has not seen his dog since.
As if that's not bad enough, in 2016, Cohen emptied the apartment of her ex-fiancé and took most of his furniture, furnishings, and possessions. Cohen allegedly refuses to return any of the possessions, the dog, or the ring, which has led DiTomaso to pursue legal action and call for the immediate return of his dog.
While breakups are always a terrible and often sordid affair, can we be surprised that the runaway bride won't return the ring? The ring is given as a token or gift, so surely one should not have to return it if a breakup occurs?
