Amid all the viral photos of police officers rescuing rampaging critters or comforting children, we forget sometimes how often they are in the line of fire while doing their jobs. That's what happened to Officer Chris Dorman, of the Folcroft Borough Police Department. He'd caught some people smoking marijuana behind a building, but when he confronted them, he was shot several times--in the face, leg, and groin. Doctors didn't think he'd make it.

Country singer Kenny Chesney got wind of the officer's bravery when he was in town Saturday night, and stopped the concert to pay tribute to Officer Dorman, who'd had tickets to the show. “Before we get going with the rest of the show, last night, a Philadelphia police officer was shot seven times. In the hospital on his bed…he passed away, but before he passed away he made a video that he wanted to come tonight so bad, and he said, ‘Kenny, please don’t forget me,’” Chesney told his audience.

There was one problem. Officer Dorman was alive. The Folcroft department tweeted the news to Chesney, who apologized by calling Dorman up and wishing him a speedy recovery. Later, the country star tweeted: "Told him we'd watch an Eagles game & have beers one day. Here's to a speedy recovery!"
That's one way to rectify a mistake! And Officer Dorman looked pretty happy as he chatted to Chesney, even if he did have to miss the concert.
