Not enough time to make cookies from scratch? No problem! Try this baking cheat: cake mix. This recipe will have you whipping up fast and festive homemade goodies that have Christmas cheer in every bite—but with less time and effort!
Here’s our easy recipe:
1 box (16.5 oz.) *devil’s food cake mix *
1/3 cup canola oil
2 large *eggs *
1/2 tsp. *peppermint extract *
1/2 cup dark *chocolate chips, *melted
2 *candy canes, *crushed
Heat oven to 325°F. In bowl, combine cake mix, oil, eggs and peppermint extract until dough forms. Chill dough 15 min.
Shape dough into 1" balls. Arrange balls 2" apart on baking sheets. Bake 8 min. or until edges are set but centers are still soft and puffy. Let cool.
Pour 1 tsp. melted chocolate chips into center of each cookie; sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Let sit 15 min. or until set.
