We all know a mother would do anything for their child or children; we just always hope they don't have to do anything too extreme.
An evening like any other in Meriden, Connecticut put 40-year-old Dania Cegeno-Delrosario in just the situation to embody those words Friday night. As she was walking home with her 7-year-old daughter, Denisse, she spotted a car speeding down the street--and coming right towards them.
The heroic mom's instincts kicked in at the crucial moment, and she managed to push her daughter out of the way just before she was struck by the car herself. Although Dania made the ultimate sacrifice and doctors were unable to save her from the injuries sustained by the hit and run, her quick thinking and loving shove ensured that Denisse walked away with only minor injuries--and her daughter understands exactly what her self-sacrificing mom did. "She pushed me so I wouldn't get hurt," the daughter told WFSB.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the daughter and her whole family mourning the loss of this brave and fiercely loving mother.
