Beauty video blogger Jordan Bone can’t open or close her hands. In her own words, that means she can’t dress herself or do her own hair, but she was determined to figure out how to do her own makeup in order to have something that was completely and solely hers.
After getting questions about her hands on each of her videos--and criticism for the way she holds some beauty tools--Bone shared her struggle through teaching herself how to work within her limitations after the accident that left her hands paralyzed to master everything from blending to the perfect cat eye eyeliner. And she really nails it.
In the video, she shares her entire beauty process, even the moments in which she uses her mouth to switch a tool between hands. She describes her injury as just one challenge she’s facing, and expresses confidence that everything will get better. And she encourages others to follow her lead in refusing to give up when things get hard. “My hands haven’t been able to move in 10 years, but I’ve taught myself a new way of doing my makeup, she says, adding, “So if something is standing in your way, maybe it means trying a different way. Explore your options. The obvious route may not be for you.”
