A photo of a police officer holding a baby has gone viral.
The powerful image shows Deputy Ric Lindley of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office comforting a child after an accident on Interstate 20.
According to the police officer, the baby's mother was quite distraught after the crash, so he asked if he could hold her daughter while she composed herself.

Ric, who has a 12-year-old granddaughter, commented on the moment, telling ABC 3340, "We can be hard sometimes, that's just the nature of the beast, but at other times, we're not machines, we're not computers, we are human beings. We have feelings and we try to treat people out here just like we would want someone to treat our children or our spouses or our parents."
