Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Make a Surprise Visit to Stanford University

Tags:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been laying relatively low since their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family were made known.

Indeed the royal pair are believed to be setting up a base in Canada, where they will soon split their time between there and the UK.

But while they are undoubtedly enjoying a bit of a break from the public eye, it seems they’re also working on something else behind the scenes.

On Tuesday, February 11, the pair traveled to California, where they reportedly visited Stanford University for a brainstorming session.

According to Today, the pair flew on a commercial flight from Canada to the campus-based in Palo Alto, just outside of San Francisco.

The royals were greeted there by the University President, Marc Tessier-Lavigne.

It’s not a huge surprise to learn that the pair are extending their charitable work in education.

Meghan is a fierce advocate for women’s education, has spoken candidly about the challenges faced by many women who are ill-equipped with the necessary means for schooling.

During her royal tour of Fiji in October 2018, Meghan delivered a stirring speech about her own experience, stating how lucky she was to have access to education.

During her royal tour of Fiji in October 2018, Meghan delivered a stirring speech about her own experience, stating how lucky she was to have access to education.

“I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world – myself included. It was through scholarships, financial aid programs and work-study where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition – that I was able to attend university,” she said at the time.

Specific details around the couple’s latest discussions with Stanford are unclear, however, there’s no doubt big plans are well and truly in motion as they work to become financially independent.

Earlier in February, it was revealed Harry and Meghan had also attended a conference in Miami hosted by JP Morgan. Harry was reportedly paid to speak at the exclusive event.

And while pictures of the couple’s movements have been scarce since they stepped back, we’re guessing there are plenty more exciting projects to come. We can’t wait for more updates!
