This Recipe for Air-Fried Roasted Bananas Is Delicious — And Ready In Less Than 10 Minutes
If I had my own cooking show, it would be called In Pursuit of Tasty Desserts That Don’t Require You to Break a Sweat, because all I ever want to do is satisfy my sweet tooth at a moment’s notice. When my sugar cravings strike, I usually either snack on a piece of ripe fruit, or take the time to make a tasty treat — but this quick and simple recipe for roasting bananas in the air fryer gives me the best of both worlds!
How to Make Roasted Bananas In the Air Fryer
I came across this recipe for roasted bananas on the 30 Seconds Food site and was blown away that I could use my trusty air fryer to whip up crispy and caramelized bananas in less than 10 minutes. (Any dessert that doesn’t require me to preheat my oven is a winner for me!)
First, set your air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit. While the air fryer is preheating, peel and chop two ripe bananas into one-inch long diagonal pieces. (Psst: You can use the leftover peels to revive your dying houseplants.) Next, place the banana slices into a bowl and mix with one tablespoon of melted unsalted butter, 1/2 teaspoon of white sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Once fully combined, lay the banana pieces in a single layer onto an air fryer tray lined with parchment paper.
Let the bananas cook in the air fryer for five minutes on one side, then flip and cook for three minutes on the other side. If the bananas aren’t golden brown and slightly crisp by then, continue air frying them for another minute or two. Allow the roasted bananas to sit and cool for a minute before tasting.
When I made this recipe at home, I served the roasted bananas in a bowl with plain Greek yogurt, a drizzle of agave, and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Taking the first bite, I immediately tasted the natural sweetness of the bananas. The tiny bit of sugar along with the agave really brought out the banana’s tropical flavor. Cinnamon also added a warming kick that balanced well with the sweetness of this dish. My sweet tooth was satisfied — and I’ll definitely be adding these air fryer roasted bananas to the lineup for my imaginary cooking show!
