This Loaded Hot Dogs Recipe Takes the Cookout Classic to New Levels of Yum

Give 'em an easy upgrade with zesty coleslaw and tangy cucumber-dill toppings

Grilled hot dogs are the iconic barbecue food. But sometimes you want a dog that’s extra special, particularly when you’re entertaining. So, in the First for Women test kitchen we took the classic hotdog and gave it an upgrade by creating two delicious toppings. Each one balances perfectly with the meaty flavor of the franks. The tangy cucumber dill relish is light and refreshing, while the crunchy coleslaw tossed with vinaigrette has just the right amount of zest. And as a bonus, both toppings are healthy. Whip them up for your guests — and you! — to try. Then let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Tip: If you don’t have the packaged coleslaw mix this recipe calls for, or just prefer to make your own, it’s easy to do. Simply slice cabbage into quarters then cut out the core. Next, separate the leaves into flat stacks and cut them into ribbons. You’ll have a bowlful of slaw in no time!
