This Skillet Pie Recipe Is a Easy + Wallet-Friendly Dish for Pizza Night

Making your own homemade pizza couldn’t be simpler thanks to this Skillet Pie recipe. This recipe bakes the pizza in a skillet, which evenly distributes heat so it becomes super crispy and browned. Additionally, shortcuts like store-bought pizza dough and tomato sauce get this pie on your dinner table in less time.

While this version of the pizza includes a combination of sharp and earthy toppings, you can customize them to your liking. You can make a meat lover’s pizza by adding pepperoni and crumbled bacon, or whip up a vegetarian pie by removing the meat and sprinkling on more veggies. For an extra gooey pie, include other shredded cheeses like mozzarella and Parmesan — which melt well alongside the Gouda. Once the pie is baked and slightly cooled, serve up the slices with a refreshing salad or sauces like ranch dressing for dipping. Trust us, this budget-friendly pizza will quickly become a favorite in your household. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Cut sausage links into 4 pieces each. Coat nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat. Add sausage pieces; cook, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink in centers, 10 min.; transfer to plate. Add pepper and onion to same skillet; cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 7 min.; transfer to plate.

Coat cast iron (or ovenproof nonstick) skillet with cooking spray. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 13" round. Fit into skillet stretching about 1" up side; brush with oil. Bake until starting to brown, pressing dough down if it puffs up, about 8 min.

Spread sauce on top leaving 1/2" border. Sprinkle with 1 cup cheese. Add sausage, peppers and onion, then sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake until baked through, edges are golden and cheese is bubbly, 12–15 min. Transfer to serving plate. If desired, garnish with parsley leaves.
