Prince William Had COVID-19 Earlier This Year But Kept It a Secret — Here’s Why

According to two new reports from the BBC and The Sun, Prince William reportedly contracted COVID-19 in April around the same time his father, the Prince Of Wales, was struck down by the illness.

The Sun reports the Duke of Cambridge decided not to publicly disclose he had to virus in a bid to prevent further unrest in England and indeed, the world.

A source speaking to the publication claims the father-of-three kept his positive test under wraps because “there were important things going on and I didn’t want to worry anyone.”

Indeed with both William’s father Prince Charles and the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson battling the novel virus around the same time, it’s little wonder the royal didn’t announce his diagnosis.

The future King of England reportedly received treatment by palace doctors and isolated at his country residence, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

A source speaking to The Sun says the 38-year-old “was hit pretty hard by the virus.”

“It really knocked him for six. At one stage he was struggling to breathe, so obviously everyone around him was pretty panicked.”

“After seeing medics and testing positive — which was obviously quite a shock given how fit and healthy he is — William was determined it should be business as usual though,” they explained. “He was determined to fulfill his engagements.”

After overcoming the deadly virus, William “realizes absolutely anyone can catch this awful disease — and knows how imperative it is that we all take this second lockdown seriously.”

Palace sources also told the BBC the second in line to throne tested positive to the virus. Kensington Palace are yet to officially address the reports.

In March, 71-year-old Prince Charles tested positive to the virus and made a healthy recovery.

“Having recently gone through the process of contracting this coronavirus, luckily with relatively mild symptoms, I now find myself on the other side of the illness but still in no less a state of social distance and general isolation,” he said at the time.

Meanwhile British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, 56, ended up spending three nights in intensive care as a result of COVID-19 but has since recovered.
