How Marie Osmond Keeps Her Marriage Strong After 25-Year Break From Husband Stephen Craig

Tags:

When Marie Osmond said “I do” in 2011, it was to her first husband, Stephen Craig. The two had rekindled their romance two decades after their first divorce and have kept their marriage running strong ever since. She tells us that it’s all thanks to quality time — but not so much that they’re co-dependent!

Osmond appears on the latest cover of First For Women where she admits spending time with her husband was one of the positives to come out of the pandemic for her. After all, they appreciate time together more than ever after spending 25 years apart. “I love to spend time with my husband. We were away from each other for 25 years and so now that the kids are all out of the house, we like to spend time together,” she says.

Osmond and Craig first married in 1982 and welcomed their son, Stephen Jr., the next year. But after a tough spell, the duo called it quits in 1985. They kept in touch through their son as Osmond married again in 1986. When that marriage ended in 2007, Osmond started getting closer to Craig again and they rekindled their relationship a few years later. Their son’s nuptials in 2011 inspired them to tie the knot again, and they did so a few months before seeing their son walk down the aisle.

Now, Osmond swears by advice she gleamed from Solomon’s Temple. Osmond recalls how the temple had two pillars at its entrance that signified a relationship as two entities. “If you have a person that leans on the other too much, the temple will crumble, or the relationship,” Osmond explains. Through the story, she learned “how important it is to find people who are strong within themselves, and that creates a very healthy relationship.”

That’s why Osmond and Craig make sure to have separate interests and activities that fulfill them while still keeping their relationship a priority. “We work hard at our relationship, but we don’t have to be together 24/7,” she says. “It’s the neediness where we need each other, but we’re not needy.”

Years into her rekindled love with her husband, Marie Osmond certainly knows how to keep her marriage strong. Be sure to pick up the latest issue of our print magazine (buy on newsstands now or on Magazine Shop, $3.99) to hear more from the star!
