Why Marie Osmond Said ‘I Do’ to Her First Husband For a Second Time, Even After Swearing Off Marriage

Tags:

As the newest official panelist on The Talk, Marie Osmond doesn’t shy away from getting real with the show’s guests or while going over the headlines with her co-hosts. The legendary entertainer is exactly the same when it comes to opening up about her personal life, including her marriage, too.

Osmond recently spoke with People about how she and her first husband, Stephen Craig, reunited after 26 years apart. Yes, a quarter of a century later! The couple ended things back in 1985 when Osmond went through a rough patch in her career. After their split, she picked herself back up with a hit record (There’s No Stopping Your Heart), and married her second husband, Brian Blosil, a year later. They were together for 21 years, but called it quits in 2007. Understandably, Osmond took the break up hard — swearing off the idea of ever taking another trip down the aisle. “I never wanted to be married again,” she said. “I was like, ‘I’m fine, I’m good!’”

You can imagine how surprised she was to then rekindle her romance with Craig just a few years later, all thanks to their continued connection through their son, Stephen Jr., and a little divine intervention. “Nothing is an accident,” Osmond said. “I am a spiritual person. So [I believe] God has his timing.”

Things worked out so well that she and Craig tied the knot for a second time in 2011. After being together for awhile, it was their son’s nuptials that inspired their own. “Stephen [Jr.] was getting married and we [realized] we can’t go to our son’s wedding and not be married,” she explained. “So we got married a few months before he did.” Talk about a sweet wedding present!

Despite whatever issues may have caused their initial breakup, Osmond can’t help but gush about her husband these days. “He is the sweetest man I know. He lives to serve and really listens to people’s needs.” It sounds like Osmond finally got the “happily ever after” we all deserve.

Here’s to many more years of wedded bliss this time around for this sweet couple!
