10 Easy Tips for a More Organized Home

When it comes to decluttering your home, removing all the things you don’t want can often be the easiest part. But what about figuring out how best to organize the things you do want to keep? To help you keep your home neat and tidy, we share 10 easy tips for a more organized home.

Label Everything

Seriously. You can’t forget where things go if there is a massive label on it. Snazzy it up and paint drawers and boxes in chalkboard paint so you can easily label the contents. You can even take Polaroid snaps of the contents and stick it to the outside of the box (perfect for shoes!).

Hide Your Shoes

Speaking of shoes, you really need to stop leaving them at your home’s entrance near the door. It creates the feeling of a cluttered home from the moment you step inside.

Organize Your Underwear Drawer

Filing your clothes and keeping them divided is especially helpful if you keep your underwear, socks, and tights all in the same drawer. While you’re busy re-organizing your drawers, don’t forget to organize your wardrobe too!

Declutter Your Car

You may think of your car as a portable home but it shouldn’t become a place for your to hoard! It’s ok to have a spare pair of shoes in there and a few toys to keep the kids occupied, but that’s about it.

Tidy Up Your Bookshelves

Throw out old magazines. You may like to collect them but if you really never look at them, keep your pile to issues less than one year old.

Organize Your Wallet

Punch a hole in your rewards cards and keep them on one key ring — you’ll save space in your wallet and will always have them handy when out and about.

Do A Wardrobe Cull

Clean out your wardrobe and donate any item that you haven’t worn in the past year. If you have massive coats that you don’t wear all year round, store them in a vacuum pack until next season.

Create Dedicated Zones

Have a designated spot for your keys, phone, wallet, and sunglasses. You’ll never lose them again if you get in the habit of always placing them in the same spot.

Smart Storage

If you don’t have a lot of space in your home, plastic containers with wheels are great for storing things under your bed.
