Kelly Ripa Revealed What She Says No To That Keeps Her Looking and Feeling ‘Amazing’

Tags:

You have to admit it — Kelly Ripa is in damn good shape. And while we know that our favorite television personality follows an extremely healthy diet, she recently revealed that there’s another wellness practice she’s adopted that keeps her feeling great — she gave up drinking two years ago.

On the January 20 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, Ripa discussed the decrease in wine sales in the US that occurred in 2019 and joked, “They’re saying that Americans bought less wine last year. It’s the first drop in a quarter of a century. Now, I believe this is because I quit drinking — that I caused this dip. I have influenced the market.” She continued, “I’m not saying I’ve driven people out [of drinking], I’m saying I stopped buying wine and there’s a […] dip.” How funny!

Ripa didn’t give her exact reason for quitting alcohol, but what she did say was that she stopped around the time that Ryan Seacrest joined the cast as her co-host. Seacrest then joked, “I started the show and she quit drinking. What does that tell you?” to which Ripa responded, “Exactly. It’s amazing.”

Ripa has talked openly about following a strict alkaline diet. Just recently, she invited Dr. Daryl Gioffre, author of Get Off Your Acid, onto the show to talk about the eating plan and its benefits,  and she even shared her favorite alkaline breakfast recipe.

On the alkaline diet, you eat foods that are low in acid like certain vegetables, fruits, nuts, and legumes, while avoiding acidic foods like dairy, meat, and eggs. Another part of the alkaline diet is that you can only consume alcohol in moderation, which might be the reason Ripa has chosen to give up the stuff for good.

Ripa previously stated that she started the diet after suffering several injuries, and that it’s helped her tremendously. On another episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, she said, “It has changed my life. I swear I think it’s responsible for me not being in pain.”

Whatever her reasoning is, we know Kelly Ripa makes decisions that are good for her body, and giving up alcohol was one of them. And we have to say, whatever she’s doing is working, and we’re super proud of her!
