What is the beauty treatment that women desire the most? A recent Yelp report revealed the top three in-office treatments women search for when hoping to turn back the clock. Too bad they cost a lot of time and money! The good news? We found the at-home alternatives that will leave you looking instantly ageless — for less!
Volumizing Deflated Lips
The beauty treatment: Lip blushing. “This semi-permanent tattoo technique deposits rosy pigment onto lips and redefines their borders, giving a thinner pout depth and fullness that lasts up to five years,” says Amber Budd Peterson, a Burnsville, Minnesota, aesthetician and makeup artist.
At-home remedy: A lip stain kit, like the Wonderskin Wonder Blading Peel & Reveal Lip Color (Buy from Wonderskin, $26). It deposits sheer yet eye-catching color onto lips to enhance their outline for a plumper look that lasts up to 10 hours.
Slimming a Puffy Face
The beauty treatment: Buccal fat removal. This surgery removes the fat pads in cheeks for a slimmer profile and more chiseled cheekbones.
At-home remedy: Contouring with bronzer. “This makeup trick creates a similar cheek-sculpting effect sans the pain and downtime,” says Peterson.
Her to-do: Dip a fluffy brush into a bronzer that’s two shades darker than your skin tone. Sweep the product onto the sides of the face in a “3” motion by starting at the temples. Then, move down to the cheekbones and along the jawline. Blend out well with the brush.
Enlivening a Dull Complexion
The beauty treatment: A glow facial. This beauty trick, done by an aesthetician (either by hand, a roller, or a gua sha tool), stimulates nutrient-rich blood and oxygen flow to the surface of skin, making the complexion appear instantly bright, glowing and radiant.
At-home remedy: A self-massage using a jade roller, like Daily Concepts Daily Jade Facial Roller (Buy from Ulta, $16). This increases circulation and helps expel trapped toxins that make skin appear sallow.
In fact, one study found that those who used a jade roller for five minutes a day had significantly widened blood vessels within five weeks, which improves blood flow so skin continues to glow long-term.
To do: Apply moisturizer (it reduces friction). Gently move the roller in upward motions from the jaw to the ears, then move from the jaw to the cheekbones. Next, roll from the forehead to the hairline. Repeat for two minutes per area.
