While She Recovered From Surgery, Husband Was Off Buying Wedding Ring

Lora Koch was completely shocked last month when she received a phone call after a routine mammogram. The doctor on the other end told he she had breast cancer, and recommended surgery.

The mom of two decided to have a double mastectomy and the surgery was scheduled for mid-February. Recovering from the surgery was tough–she wasn’t feeling great. What she didn’t know is that Jim, her husband of 26 years, had been planning a surprise on his own. While she was still in the hospital, Jim had bought new wedding rings.

Back at home, her husband got down on his knees and proposed to his wife for a second time. He said, “I’ll always love you no matter what and we can be strong through this together.” Later she told her younger daughter Christin that she’d been so touched by the gesture. “This is true love,” she said.

Luckily, Christin captured the sweet moment and tweeted out for the world to see.
