Woman Lost 72 Pounds in One Year By Using One Simple Device

Not every reddit story leads to an inspiring transformation, but that was totally the case with reddit user ‘EdmontonAB83’ and her weight loss journey. Starting out at 210 pounds, she lost 72 pounds in just a year. And the good news for us is, it’s easy to steal her genius method.

It all started with her buying a Fitbit. The device inspired her to get anywhere from 10,000 to 16,000 steps in per day. From there, she went on a diet, albeit a more realistic one than many out there. It was focused on a simple “calories in, calories out” method. She measured that using her Fitness Pal app (which is free), and kept a goal of getting to 1,200 calories total per day. (NOTE: Not everyone’s calorie needs are the same. Always check with your doctor before setting your own calorie goal to see what’s right for you.)

Luckily for this reddit user, she already enjoyed cooking quite a bit. But she was inspired to cook more meals off of websites like skinnytaste.com, which promoted tasty yet healthful foods.

She said, “I stopped buying lunches or snacks out, packed my meals and took with me every chance I got, even to football games.”

She also continued to do a lot of walking, as well as gentle exercise like yoga. And now at 138 pounds, she has inspirational advice for anyone who wishes to (literally) follow in her footsteps.

“Remember don’t let anyone sabotage you, learn to say no to things that will derail you,” she said. “Stay focused on your goals. We all have it in us to do this and ultimately do it for your health, that’s the most important thing we have.”
