Prince Harry Attends the Super Bowl Alongside This Member of the Royal Family
Prince Harry has been spotted at one of his first public outings of 2022, and it was at the unlikeliest of events. The royal was photographed at the Super Bowl in Inglewood, CA with a woman by his side, but it wasn’t wife Meghan Markle.
Harry instead was accompanied by his cousin Princess Eugenie, where the duo were snapped wearing casual clothes and face masks as they watched the big game. Meghan didn’t appear to be in attendance, suggesting she may have stayed home with her and Harry’s two young children Archie, two, and Lilibet, eight months.
Fans were surprised to see the royals out together and not just because they never expected to spot two members of the British monarchy at a major US sporting event. Since quitting his role as a senior royal in 2020, Harry has only been seen with other members of the royal family on his two brief return visits to the UK.
That makes this the first time he’s been photographed with another senior royal on his new home soil in the US, aside from his wife, Megan. Few details have been revealed about his Super Bowl visit with Eugenie, though the cousins have been close since they were children.
Meghan also revealed in a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last year that Eugenie was one of the first royals who knew she and Harry were dating.
“[Harry] came to see me in Toronto, and our friends and his cousin Eugenie and now her husband Jack, they came as well, and the four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes, just to have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple,” Meghan said of dating Harry in 2016. “It was a post-apocalypse theme, so we had all this bizarre costuming on, and we were able to just sort of have one final, fun night out.”
The Princess of York, whose son August celebrated his first birthday last week, is understood to have flown to the US to visit the couple this week her home in Windsor. She is currently believed to be living with her son and husband Jack Brooksbank at Frogmore Cottage, the home originally gifted to Harry and Meghan by the Queen when they wed.
As for how long Eugenie will stay in town and what other outings she has planned with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it looks like only time — and possibly more photos — will tell. Harry and Meghan are notoriously private, especially when it comes to their children, Archie and Lili.
Since moving to the US in 2020, few pictures of the children have been released by the couple and they go to great lengths to prevent paparazzi from snapping photos of the young royals.
It’s a parenting choice they share with Eugenie and Jack, who have chosen not to share any pictures of their young son’s face on social media. With that in mind, we doubt we’ll be seeing any photos of Eugenie playing with her young first cousins Lilibet and Archie.
