A bathroom can often appear bland and sterile, and adding a feeling of warmth can be expensive. But a cheap and easy way to make a bathroom come alive is with the use of the right indoor plants. Unsure about which plants are best for displaying in a small and often sun-deprived area like the bathroom?

Depending on the position and design of your bathroom, this area may not receive as much natural light as the rest of your home. Choose plants that can survive in low light then open up windows and blinds when the bathroom’s not in use and take plants outside every now and then for a dose of sunshine.

Humidity And Temperature

Even with adequate ventilation, bathrooms are wet and humid and, at times, hot! This kind of environment is not suited to all plants so it pays to do a bit of research. Plants such as ferns, orchids, succulents and other tropical varieties don’t mind the heat and humidity.

Space

Size can be a challenging factor when decorating a bathroom as they’re usually designed to fit the necessities – vanity, shower, bath, and toilet. If you don’t have a lot of room, try displaying them on top of the vanity or windowsills or try indoor hanging plants instead.

This easy-to-care-for indoor plant, thrives without too much watering and little sunlight and also works to naturally cleanse the air of nasty pollutants such as acetone. They also love the humidity!

Snake Plant

One of the most resilient indoor plants of the bunch (you can leave it in your bedroom with low light, only watering it occasionally, and it will continue to thrive), mother-in-law’s tongue is not only rich in color but has toxin-fighting qualities too.
