In addition to the life-saving cleaning tricks mentioned in the video (who knew a tennis ball could do wonders for your pool?), here’s one other quick tip — baking soda works well for pretty much everything. Whether you’re cleaning up spills, stains, or dirt, you don’t need anything else. So if you’re thinking about ditching all of your cleaning supplies, remember to keep this one product in your cabinet.

There are so many different uses for baking soda.

  1. Have a pet that isn’t exactly potty trained? When accidents happen, you can wet the stain with vinegar, sprinkle baking soda on top, let it sit, and then vacuum it all up the next day.
  2. If you’re shining silverware, it also does the trick. Just line a tray with aluminum foil, fill it with hot water and two teaspoons of baking soda, and let your silver soak for five minutes.
  3. It even gets rid of glue, so if you’ve got a spill or just a sticky residue, combine two tablespoons of baking soda with two tablespoons of vegetable oil, then buff away the mess.
  4. You can even use baking soda instead of shampoo to wash your hair. It’ll be a bit of a transition, and your hair may be oily for a little while, but once your hair adjusts to the baking soda and apple cider vinegar, it’ll be even softer and fluffier than it was before.
