This Simple Trick Can Help Organize Leftovers In Your Fridge Without Using Tupperware

Tags:

When you whip up a delicious meal and serve it all in one big bowl, then inevitably end up with leftovers, what do you do? You probably separate those remaining morsels into smaller Tupperware or similar items that, let’s be honest, will just create more dishes to clean. Luckily, there’s a space-saving solution that doesn’t involve repositioning your food into smaller containers.

This simple, yet mind-blowing advice was shared on Reddit. It can especially come in handy when dealing with leftovers from a shindig where you’ve prepared a couple of big dishes for your friends and family. All you need is an ordinary pair of chopsticks.

We’re sure there has been at least one occasion when you’ve ordered enough takeout from an Asian restaurant for them to provide an extra pair of chopsticks that you now just have laying around. Well, here is their time to shine!

This is the leftovers of a delicious salad full of fresh veggies and leafy greens that I can enjoy for the rest of the week in the bigger bowl, along with a sizable portion of mashed potatoes that are ready to be microwaved (the bowl is safe to heat!) stacked on top. By placing the chopsticks on top of the middle of the bowl, it created a makeshift shelf for the smaller one to balance on without damaging the aluminum foil protecting my salad.

How amazing is that? Unless you buy bowls with fitted tops (which can take up a lot of space in your cupboard when not in use), covering leftovers with aluminum foil or plastic wrap is the best way to keep your food from going bad without dirtying extra dishes.

Before learning this trick, I would have stored each of these bowls on separate shelves in my refrigerator, which would obviously take up more space, or put them into multiple smaller containers. That, or watch in sadness as myself, my family, or friends tossed away perfectly good food because we didn’t think there was a decent way to store it in the fridge.

Hopefully now we can all make sure every morsel of delicious food is devoured without having to deal with extra dishes to store them!
