Viola Davis Used This $6 Drugstore Mascara to Get Those Extra-Long Lashes at the Oscars

Viola Davis might not have walked home with another Oscar statue to add to her collection of well-earned awards last night, but the actress still won in our hearts as one of the most gorgeous celebs at the ceremony.

We aren’t just talking about that stunning white Alexander McQueen gown with an intricate cut-out bodice. Though it looked incredible on her, we were especially blown away by the 55-year-old’s makeup, which perfectly highlighted her natural beauty. Even more impressive? Every product she used for the big night can be bought at the drugstore for less than $10!

Her makeup artist, Autumn Moultrie, shared that the subtle yet oh-so glamorous makeup was inspired by the McQueen dress. “We wanted the look to be soft and sophisticated, but also dramatic.”

To create that balance, Moultrie paired Davis’ delicate lip color with bold, long lashes using a budget-friendly product you might already have in your makeup bag: L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara (Buy at Walmart, $6.12). Along with the mascara, the makeup artist used L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Satin Glide Eyeliner (Buy at Walmart, $7.33) and L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Brow Magnifying Pencil (Buy at Walmart, $7.97) to complete the dramatic look.

And for that lovely soft lip? Moultrie reached for the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Anti-Feathering Lip Liner (Buy at Walmart, $7.97) to line her pout with the rich cranberry shade and fill it in with bold orchid. Judging from the photos Moultrie posted below, we’d say she achieved the beautifully delicate and bold balance she was looking for!

Davis also shared on Twitter that before a drop of makeup was applied, she prepped her skin with the new L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Midnight Serum (Buy at Walmart, $32.97).

To maintain her glow, Moultrie reached for L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation (Buy at Walmart, $11.70) in mahogany. She then made sure it stayed set all night with L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Creamy Powder Foundation (Buy at Walmart, $9.02). Moultrie grabbed two shades to contour with the latter, using sienna under Davis’ eyes, the bridge of her nose, and center of her forehead, then filled in the rest of face with the espresso.

As Davis clearly proves, there’s no need to spend a million bucks on makeup to look fabulous!
