Valerie Bertinelli Swears by This $7 Drugstore Product to Cover Grays Between Salon Visits

Tags:

Even with the world opening back up, visiting the salon might not be on the top of everyone’s priorities — including gorgeous celebs like Valerie Bertinelli. Luckily, she shared the budget-friendly product she uses to keep her hair looking its best.

“When I’m too busy to visit the salon and need to tackle those pesky grays, a quick Clairol Root Touch Up can really save the day!” Of course, we aren’t too shocked to learn the down-to-earth actress uses the same stuff we can all pick up at the drugstore (Buy at Walmart, $6.92).

Bertinelli spilled her hair dye secret while chatting for a recent issue of our print magazine (buy on newsstands now or on Amazon, $59.60 for a year’s subscription). She also shared another beauty tip, but this one is totally free: “The wise women in my life kept it simple: ‘Drink. More. Water.’” Judging by the 61-year-old’s glowing skin, we’d say all that hydration is definitely paying off!

The proud mama also couldn’t help but brag about her son, Wolfgang, and the upcoming release of his first album with his band Mammoth WVH. Again, it’s not surprising considering her Instagram and Twitter handles are “wolfiesmom” — she’ll never waste a chance to cheer her kiddo on! That said, Bertinelli acknowledged the bittersweet emotions that come with Wolfgang following in the footsteps of his dad and her late ex-husband, rocker Eddie Van Halen

“I know how Ed felt about [Wolfgang’s] music and I miss not being able to call him up and go, ‘Can you believe this?’” she said. “Because we were just both so, so, so proud of him, and I know Ed would really be loving this right now.”

She’s so proud, in fact, that when we asked about the most important thing she’d like for people to take away from the chat, she beamed, “Wolfie’s album! I just want everybody to hear it because it’s so good!” You can check out Wolfgang’s first single, featuring home videos with Valerie Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen, on his YouTube page. We’re sure it’ll be the perfect soundtrack for touching up your roots with Bertinelli’s go-to dye, too.
