Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Are In ‘Good Spirits’ Despite Coronavirus Diagnosis

“Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed its first celebrities with beloved actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson. The couple are currently being treated in Australia where the Hanks was filming a new movie.

The actor shared the news yesterday on social media in his typically humble and affable fashion. Take a look at the statement below:

Who else would be so calm and collected while revealing such shocking news to millions of fans across the globe? Even after writing that he and Wilson, both 63, will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as necessary, Hanks added, “Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”

Hanks is right, of course, and we should all take a page from his playbook and try not to panic as we’re flooded with coronavirus news. But that hasn’t stopped tons of people from worrying about the beloved couple. This includes several of the pair’s famous friends who commented on the post, including Reese Witherspoon who wrote, “please take care,” while funny man Jack Black said that he is “sending love.”

Among all the well-wishes flooding the couple, two of Hanks and Wilson’s sons were quick to share positive updates their parents’ conditions. “It’s true, my parents got coronavirus — crazy,” Chet Hanks confirmed in a video on his Instagram page. “They both are fine, they’re not even that sick. They’re not worried about it, but they’re going through the necessary health precautions.” His older brother, Colin Hanks, echoed the optimistic message on his Instagram page, too, while thanking everyone for their support:

It’s definitely a relief to hear how well Hanks and Wilson are doing in the face of this diagnosis. We’re also happy to know the whole family is able to stay in touch even though the parents are battling the sickness on the opposite side of the globe. Wilson sweetly proved that with a comment on Chet’s post saying, “Love you angel.”

We’re adding our prayers to the many being sent to the couple and hope to hear even more promising updates on Hanks and Wilson’s health in the days to come!
