There’s nothing subtle about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. From the very start of his career as a wrestler with the WWE, he’s embraced a larger than life attitude that we can’t help but love. While promoting his latest film, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Johnson elaborated on how that includes enjoying massive cheat meals on a regular basis.
Obviously, this is a man who spends plenty of time working out to hone the muscles he shows off in his films. Johnson proves that in several photos he’s shared on Instagram while hitting the gym — hard. But he’s also not shy about letting us all know how much allows himself let go and chow down on a weekly basis. As he explained to Jimmy Fallon, “It’s very important, cheat meals. I’m into pancakes, I’m into sushi.” Sometimes he’s into gobbling both of those at the same time, but he doesn’t recommend it. He usually likes to pair his indulgent meals with a movie or series playing on his laptop.

Johnson goes so far as to describe each meal as a spiritual experience. “It’s like church, ya know? Because you work out hard and, once a week, you treat yourself.” That said, it’s something he prefers to do alone after his family have all gone to bed. “At like midnight,” he admitted, “I’m like a troll.” Hey, if trolls looked like the Rock, we’re sure they’d have a much better reputation.
He clearly balances his cheat meals out with his regular exercise, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all follow in his footsteps. Johnson even encourages us to do the same with his Instagram captions, like one that reads, “Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself and enjoy your cheat meals my friends.”
Whether we pile on as much of our favorite foods as the Rock or simply slip up on our diet every now and then, there’s one thing for sure: We shouldn’t let ourselves feel guilty about it. We’re only human!
