There are Christmas trees … and then there are smart Christmas trees! As much as we love trimming the tree with our most cherished ornaments, all of that decorating can be hard work — and it doesn’t stop once the lights have been strung. Even if you have an artificial tree, you’ll still need to turn your lights on and off each day, and if there are different settings for them — ie blinking or fading — you’ll need to fuss with that, too. This year, however, Amazon is offering up a smart Christmas tree that’s ready and able to do a good portion of the heavy lifting for you — meet Mr. Christmas tree ($299.99, originally $349.48, Amazon).
Released by Amazon just last month, this first-of-its-kind tree looks just like a real Douglas fir, with adjustable foliage you can move about to ensure no bare spots are visible. Standing 7 feet tall, it has 1,750 branch tips and comes equipped with 400 LED pre-lit bulbs.
It works with the included Echo Dot smart speaker, which is compatible with Amazon’s smart assistant, Alexa. Using this device, you can command Alexa to turn the tree on and off, select its lighting color (bulbs are red, green, yellow, purple, light blue, white, blue, and multi-colored), or switch on its multi-fade or multi-sparkle modes.
You can also schedule your tree to turn on at the same time every day, so you’ll never need to think twice about starting your day with a little holiday cheer.
Alexa will also play holiday tunes, answer your questions about cookie baking, and tell you if you’re in for a white Christmas.
To set it up, simply slide the three included tree sections together with the built-in power pole, plug it in, and start chatting with your new holiday assistant — that’s it!
While it’s normally just under $350, this tree bundle is currently up for grabs for 14 percent off. But don’t sleep on this deal — between its pre-orders and long-awaited release, this tree has already sold out multiple times.
Merry Christmas to us!
