Rebel Wilson Reveals the One Simple Exercise That Helped Her Shed More Than 60 Pounds

Although she’s known for cracking jokes on screen, Rebel Wilson wasn’t kidding around when she decided to call 2020 her “year of health.” The actress has shed over 60 pounds — and just shared the totally easy exercise that helped her melt away inches.

Wilson acknowledged that she’s lucky to have access to personal trainers, but that the most helpful activity was simply going for long walks. “I want you guys to know that the majority of the exercise that I’ve done this year has just been me going out for a walk,” she told her Instagram followers. “That is free, you can do it, it’s safe.”

The Pitch Perfect star said she likes to walk for about an hour and listens to playlists, audiobooks, or podcasts along the way. “I know it’s getting colder,” she added. “But just give it a go… Just get your body moving!”

There’s no denying it’s paid off for Wilson, as you can see in the snaps below:

Of course, there’s plenty of research to back up the Wilson’s advice. Walking has been shown to not just help shed pounds, but also lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and balance cholesterol. Studies have found that even just a 10-minute stroll each day can improve our heart health.

Going for a nice walk also has the benefit of being a great social distance-friendly activity. As Wilson notes, the weather might be chilling down now, but if you’re able to bundle up and get your steps in, you just might find yourself celebrating similar weight loss goals with your own “year of health” coming up! (Psst: Wearing a mask will help you stay warm and safe, too.)

Aside from the exercise, Wilson said she’s trying to be more mindful about food rather than her “old habit” of emotional eating. She admitted that it’s not something that can just disappear overnight and still pops up when she’s worried or anxious, but that she’s working on managing it moving forward.

We’ll be cheering her on as we follow her lead with some nice long walks!
