Kensington Palace Gives a Sneak Peek to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding Menu

Tags:

Everyone knows the food is one of the most important parts of any wedding, so it makes sense that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s menu for their upcoming nuptials on May 19 will likely be absolutely delicious. While the exact menu has not been confirmed, Kensington Palace gave royal fans a sneak peek on May 14. “On the 19th of May, staff will be working in the kitchens at Windsor Castle producing the food for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding reception, which will take place in the castle grounds after the ceremony,” the Kensington Palace website read.

“All the staff are delighted to be involved on the day. We’ve even had old staff contacting us if we need some extra support,” Mark, the Head Chef of The Royal Household, shared. “Luckily the seasons have just fallen perfectly and that’s become the main focus in the decision making of the menus.” Photos from behind the scenes of the kitchen included fresh produce like asparagus and snap peas.

We also got a sneak peek at the desserts for the special event (yes, there will be more than just wedding cake!). Pastry chef Selwyn Stob gave fans an inside look at the yummy chocolate truffles, bite-sized crème brûlée, biscuits with mango panna cotta topping, and yellow macaroons. Each recipe has been tried many times. “It’s a kind of science,” Stoby said. “You have to know a bit about chemistry but it’s also very creative, with a lot of attention to detail.”

Guests at Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s 2011 wedding were served salmon, lamb, and many yummy desserts. And since Meghan is a self-proclaimed foodie, we’re sure she’s come up with some fancy food options herself. “The couple have been very involved in every detail of it,” head chef Mark shared.

As far as the drinks, we’re expecting there will be some wine since Meghan’s now-defunct blog, The Tig, was named after the Tuscan bottle of red wine, tignanello. And it seems Meghan is doing her best to put an American twist on the royal wedding. “Meghan is adding some American touches [to the reception], like crab cake appetizers,” an insider told In Touch. On top of that, they’re considering late night treats served from food trucks, “but Meghan’s worried the royals will think it’s tacky.” We’ll have to wait just a few more days to see what they decide.
