Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Baby Girl Is Here — Her Name is So Sweet and Special
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are parents of a baby girl! Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m in a hospital in Santa Barbara, California, weighing 7 lbs 11 oz.
An official statement on their Archewell website reads, “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.” It goes on to explain the origin of her name: Lilibet is the family nickname of her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and of course, her middle name was chosen to honor her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Lili is the 11th great-grandchild of the queen and is eighth in line to the throne.
In a message of thanks from the happy parents themselves, they said: “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
