Marie Osmond’s Tips for Beating Stress and Embracing Change in the New Year

Tags:

For most of us, the start of a new year means resolutions and hope for positive change ahead, and as Marie Osmond shares with FIRST, her approach to 2022 is no exception. “It’s important not to be fearful of change,” Marie says emphatically. “Change was upsetting to me as a younger woman, but I decided to embrace it, and it’s one of the best things I’ve learned. I’m no longer afraid to say, ‘This isn’t working — I’m moving on.’ It ushers in so many wonderful opportunities.”

For Marie, those opportunities have arrived in spades. Thanks to losing 50 pounds with Nutrisystem (which is having a huge sale right now) and keeping it off for 15 years, she has had the energy to perform multiple concerts with orchestras across the US in support of her new album, Unexpected (Buy or stream from Amazon here).

“I’m a little bit country and a little bit opera,” says Marie with a smile. Her new 17-song album includes What a Wonderful World, Over the Rainbow, and other beloved classics. “It has been such a journey traveling and performing again, but knowing God has my back, I’m not afraid of what the future holds. I know I’ll be just fine!” Here, Marie shares her tips for embracing change and feeling your best in 2022.

Focus on your vision.

“I love making vision boards to focus on my goals,” Marie shares. “You just glue together a bunch of images that represent things you’d like to do or achieve — like healthy habits, travel destinations, etc. The best part is that I’ll make a board and not even realize I’ve done everything on it until I look at it a year later.” Studies show that women who use similar visualization techniques to lose weight drop up to 26 pounds more than those who don’t.

Try new things.

“I work hard, and I have learned to play hard too,” Marie says. “Recently, I got myself a Harley motorcycle, which I love riding through the national parks. I like off-roading in the more rural areas. When we go camping, we’ll just drive through some of the little areas, and it reminds me that there are so many beautiful places and things to experience and explore. I’ve also started knitting while watching movies. I like to do things like that because it keeps you busy without being overwhelming. I’m a born crafter — it helps me relax and enjoy myself.”

Take the right supplements.

“When your adrenals get worn-out, you are forever miserable and lethargic, so when I get really tired, I turn to my latest and greatest vitamin find: Researched Nutritionals Energy Multi-Plex,” says Marie. “It offers fantastic adrenal support with magnesium, B-12, potassium, and herbs that also strengthen your brain and cardio function. Taking three a day gives me that kick right when I need it.” Bonus: Vitamin B-12 and magnesium have also been shown to boost immunity to help defend against COVID-19.

Show yourself some love.

When Marie is feeling blue or finds it tough to face the day, she uses a simple trick passed down from generations of Osmond women: Put on a little lipstick. “Taking five minutes to put on a bit of makeup lifts me up through the whole day — it makes me feel like I did something for myself,” Marie says. “Whether it’s swiping on some mascara or dabbing on a pretty gloss, that extra moment for a little self-love goes a long way.” Marie’s right! Studies show that just a swipe of lipstick activates the “lipstick effect,” making women feel instantly more confident and happy.
