Kelly Clarkson Says She’s ‘Absolutely’ Done Having Kids

Tags:

A household of six is enough for Kelly Clarkson! The singer told reporters on Tuesday, January 9, that she and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, are “absolutely” done having children. The couple share a daughter, three-year-old River Rose, and a son, 21-month-old Remington. Brandon also has two children from an earlier marriage, Savannah and Seth, who Kelly helps raise.

“They are challenging. Wine is necessary. They’re great though. Out of the mouths of babes. They say stuff where you’re like ‘Damn.’ They call you out. They teach me,” Kelly said about her kids. “I hope with our two boys and our two girls that they see their parents as successful, loving, and respectful people because that’s what we want for them.” So true!

The 35-year-old might spend her days raising her children and teaching them life lessons like any mom would, but Kelly has also been candid about how she actually learns from them! “I know it sounds silly, but kids teach you to be a better human,” she said. “They’re watching every moment, not only me at home but me sitting here with y’all.”

“I think when you’re younger and in this kind of industry where everyone is always applauding you — or talking bad or good about you — they’re still talking about you and it’s so hard to not drink your punch,” she continued. “I’m going to teach my kids to do what they love, regardless if they’re the most famous person doing it. Love what you do. Love who you work with and don’t work with people you don’t and don’t do things you don’t love.”

Kelly has proven in the past that she’s pretty much the coolest mom ever, especially when she took her daughters as her dates to the 2017 American Music Awards back in November! While on the red carpet, the “Piece by Piece” singer opened up about the hardships of motherhood. “Any working mom’s struggle — any working parent’s struggle — is to balance it all. We do our best,” she said. “They’ll probably end up in therapy at some point,” she added, jokingly.

“We all live together and everything. It’s so different, but it’s perfect. They’re awesome, and I actually really dig the mom thing. I’m quick to go, ‘I told you not to touch that!’” she continued. “We all work really well together, but I’m totally my mom. My mom was a hard mom. I’m probably that mom.”
