His claim to be the real Santa raises red flags for the no-nonsense Doris Walker (Maureen O’Hara), but his dedication to his role and embodiment of the true Christmas spirit causes even the most cynical to second guess themselves. His claim eventually leads him to court to defend his sanity and true identity as the real Santa.

This Christmas classic fully embodies holidays with your crazy family. Wanting nothing more than to create the perfect Christmas, Clark Griswold’s (Chevy Chase) plans go awry with the arrival of his bickering parents and in-laws, and eccentric cousin and his family around the holidays. To make matters worse, Clark is banking on his Christmas bonus that may or may not be what he hoped for.
