Mayim Bialik, the actress behind the title character, Blossom Russo, quickly drew a loyal fan base for the show.

Born in 1975 in San Diego, California, Bialik’s passion for acting and academia was evident from an early age.

Bialik’s breakout role came in the form of the young Bette Midler in the film Beaches (1988). She also gained recognition for her recurring role in the hit series Webster as well as guest appearances in shows like Facts of Life.

But it was Blossom that catapulted Bialik to stardom. Bialik’s portrayal of a teenage girl navigating the ups and downs of adolescence while grappling with complex family dynamics was praised for its authenticity and relatability.

After the show’s conclusion, Bialik took a hiatus from acting to focus on her education. She earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, showcasing her intellect beyond the realm of entertainment. However, she returned to acting, landing various roles in television and film.

Her next big role came in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory (2010-2019), where she played the role of Amy Farrah Fowler. Her performance earned her several Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Most recently, from 2021-2023, Bialik was a guest host for popular game show Jeopardy. She also starred as the title character Kat in Call Me Kat a sitcom that aired on Fox from 2021-2023.

Did you know? Although she plays the family’s youngest child, Bialik is four months older than Joey Lawrence.

Whoa! Joey Lawrence with his charming smile and undeniable charisma brought the character of Joey Russo to life on Blossom. As Joey Russo, the aspiring musician with a heart of gold, Lawrence became a fan favorite. His on-screen chemistry with Bialik’s Blossom added a layer of charm to the show, making their sibling dynamic a highlight of the show.

Lawrence was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was involved in acting and music at a young age. He gained widespread recognition as a child actor in the sitcom Gimme a Break! (1983-1987).

In addition to being an actor, Lawrence was also passionate about music and recorded his first album, self-titled Joey Lawrence, in 1993.

Lawrence also took on various television roles, including a recurring part in Melissa & Joey (2010-2015), where he starred alongside Melissa Joan Hart. In 2022, he competed in season eight of The Masked Singer.  In 2023, Lawrence launched a podcast called Brotherly Love with his siblings Andrew and Matthew.
