The Go-Go’s Belinda Carlisle Calls This Classic Drugstore Moisturizer a ‘Miracle Cure’
When she’s not on stage rocking with her bandmates, the Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle has a few essential beauty items she relies on each day — including one she literally describes as a “miracle cure” for dry skin.
Carlisle recently dished to the Strategist about all the products she simply can’t live without. As someone who describes her skin as “extremely, extremely dry,” she explained she always reaches for Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream (Buy on Amazon, $22).
“I’ve been using this for 40-odd years. It’s one of those classic standbys,” Carlisle explained. “I use it on my face, my cuticles, my feet — I rub it all over them, then put socks on to let it soak in. It’s a miracle cure. There’s a reason why it’s been around for so long.”
She’s not the only fan of the moisturizer in her band, either. “A lot of the girls in the Go-Go’s use it, too, and probably have for just as long.” (Psst: Catherine Zeta-Jones also swears by it!)
Aside from sharing how she keeps her skin quenched, Carlisle listed a few other budget-friendly products she loves. Any bookworms out there might want to check out the Vekkia Rechargeable Neck Book Light (Buy on Amazon, $15.99).
“As I got older, I needed glasses and more light in order to read in bed,” she said. “Traditional reading lights are fussy. You constantly have to redirect the light and it takes forever to get it right. This is very sleek. I wrap it around my neck and there are two flashlights on either side. You can direct them up or down or in any direction you want.”
Carlisle admits it’s not the most chic accessory, though. “My husband makes fun of me for using it,” she revealed. “I even made fun of it when I first saw it because the light is so ridiculous-looking. But now I own two.”
The “Our Lips Our Sealed” singer has also fittingly partnered with Too Faced to release her own shade of lipstick (Buy from Too Faced, $22). Carlisle says it’s a far cry from the bolder makeup she wore during her early punk days, but the neutral rosy hue is perfectly flattering for daily wear.
