Melissa Sorrells
Melissa Sorrells is managing editor for Alt-Meat magazine and senior editor for Meatingplace magazine as well as a freelance writer and editor. She has been covering the health, nutrition, food, technology and travel spaces for more than ten years. In her previous professional lives, Sorrells wrote and edited award-winning service features for women’s magazines, worked on community building efforts at Hearst and created award-winning marketing materials and experiences for small liberal arts colleges. She has won a variety of Neal Awards, Eddie Awards and CASE Awards for this work. Sorrells graduated magna cum laude from William Smith College, studying writing, rhetoric and media while serving as the copy editor of the on-campus newspaper, as a teacher’s assistant for the media department and as a peer writing tutor. She volunteers her time as a clinic escort and member of the Lenape Meadows Home and School Organization.
