3 At-Home Spa Treatments That’ll Make You Look and Feel Years Younger

Tags:

An easy way to beat the chill, feel pampered and reverse years without leaving the house? Heat-infused remedies. “Spas use heat in their anti-aging treatments because it encourages body — and skin healing circulation,” says celebrity aesthetician Sarah Akram. Find the one anti-aging remedy that will leave you radiant!

Try a matcha tea steam.

The season’s whipping winds and subzero temperatures can make our complexion red and raw. But a matcha tea steam can soothe it fast. Matcha’s healing amino acid theanine calms redness and repairs irritated skin while the steam opens pores, allowing nutrients to better absorb into skin.

To do: In a heat-safe bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of matcha powder like MRM Matcha Green Tea Powder (Buy at Amazon, $17.38) and 4 cups of boiling water. Drape a towel over your head and hover your face 6 inches above the steamy bowl for 10 minutes.

Opt for a warm milk bath.

When dry, frigid air leaves skin parched and flaky all over, Akram suggests immersing yourself in a warm soak (not hot, which can strip oils from skin) infused with milk and jasmine oil. “Milk’s lactic acid sloughs off flakes while its fats rehydrate,” she explains. “And jasmine oil’s antioxidants fortify and rebalance skin’s moisture barrier to reduce dryness.”

To do: Add 6 drops of jasmine essential oil like WOW Jasmine Essential Oil (Buy at Walmart, $14.95) and 2 cups of powdered milk into a bath. Soak for 20 minutes.

Pick a heated clay wrap.

These days, we’re more inclined to curl up on the couch than to get our steps in-and that can cause bellyswelling fluids and toxins to build up in the midsection. The fix? Whip up a warmed detoxifying belly wrap with bentonite clay and juniper berry oil. The negatively charged clay pulls positively charged toxins from skin, while diuretic juniper oil flushes trapped fluids. And topping it all off with heat helps the body sweat out any excess water it’s retaining.

To do: In a non-metal bowl (metal negates the clay’s charge), combine 5 tablespoons of bentonite clay like Pure Body Naturals Indian Healing Bentonite Clay (Buy on Amazon, $6.95), 6 drops of juniper berry essential oil like Gya Labs Juniper Berry Essential Oil (Buy on Amazon, $9.99) and 1⁄2 cup of warm water. Rub a handful onto your stomach, then cover with plastic wrap. Place a damp, hot washcloth on top of the plastic. Relax for 20 minutes, remove the plastic wrap and rinse.
