14 Snuggly Kitties Who Have Mastered the Art of Catnaps

Tags:

It’s ironic that we humans call our brief slumbers “catnaps.” As any kitty owner can tell you, these fur babies spend a lot of their time hitting a metaphorical snooze button. In fact, they can clock in an average 15 hours of sleep in a day. We’d be lying if we said we weren’t a little jealous of all that relaxation time, but sleeping cats are too cute to actually ever be mad at (…even when all that rest means they might wake us up in the middle of the night).

And did you know that felines are actually dreaming while asleep? Research dating back to the 1960s claims that cats might seem more active once they’ve reached deep REM sleep — twitching, arching their backs, and even hissing — because they’re imaging themselves hunting down food. They could also just be reliving something they did that day, according to the Purina PetCare Advice Centre.

Whatever they’re dreaming about, there’s no denying they look totally adorable while they’re at it! Check out the super-cute sleeping cats in the photos below and you’ll probably find yourself wishing you could curl up with them.
