In an Unusual Birth, Twin Born First Is Younger Than Second Baby

Tags:

We’ve heard some strange birth stories, but this one threw us for a loop. When Emily and Seth Peterson of West Barnstable, MA welcomed twin boys, Samuel and Ronan, into the world, the twin born first ended up being younger then the second sibling. How is that possible?

Easy: Blame Daylight Saving Time.

Baby Samuel was born at 1:39 a.m. on Sunday morning–but when Ronan was born 31 minutes later, Daylight Saving Time had ended and the clocks were set back an hour. That made Ronan’s official time of birth 1:10 a.m., making him older, even though he was born second.

The twins‘ new dad says he saw this one coming.

“I said earlier that night that the boys were either going to be born on two different days or the time change would come into play,” he told WCVB.
