Deaf Baby Boy Hears for the First Time, But Watch What Happens When His Mom Says “I Love You”

Tags:

It’s a holiday miracle for little Archer Ruiz, a 3-month-old baby who was diagnosed with hearing loss when he was just three weeks old. His parents have been waiting ever since to have him fitted for new hearing aids, and when he finally puts them in and hears his loving parents‘ voices, well… let’s just say, the moment is something this family will be treasuring forever.

His parents, Taryn and Drew Ruiz of Oklahoma City, got Archer fitted for hearing aids with help from Oklahoma-based Hearts for Hearing. With doctors, nurses, and Archer’s grandparents gathered around, the sweet baby finally got to hear his very first sounds–namely, his mom’s voice.

Though he’s naturally a little upset at first, the baby’s stunned expression quickly turns to one of happiness and awe. As he stares up at Mommy with eyes full of wonder, his parents can barely hold back the tears.

“It was unreal,” Taryn told TODAY. “When we learned about Archer’s hearing loss our hearts broke for him. When we turned on his hearing aids and he heard me say ‘Archer,’ I felt so much relief and joy because, for the first time, I was able to calm him down using my voice. It was so special and so beautiful.”

We agree! Just watch.
