Carrie Underwood Just Shared a Brutally Honest Photo About the Reality of Motherhood

During your bustling daily routine, you might not notice your child or grandchild growing up right in front of your eyes. They progress in baby steps, literally, learning to feed themselves and pull up their pants. Small victories add up, and when you get a chance to step back and observe him or her, you may ask yourself, “What happened to my little baby?”

For country superstar Carrie Underwood, that feeling hit home when her son, Isaiah, celebrated his 2nd birthday on Feb. 27. She uploaded a happy photo of Isaiah playing with a birthday balloon with the caption: “Where did two years go? My angel is getting so big! On one hand, it’s so fun to see him learn and grow but on the other, it’s all happening so fast! Happy birthday, little monkey! You are my world…my heart…and I thank God for you each and every day! The two years you have been on this earth have been the best of our lives! Mommy and Daddy love you so much! ❤️️❤️️❤️️”

Underwood still has many joyful years to spend with Isaiah, but the life a musician isn’t easy. “Sometimes I feel guilty that this is my son’s life: We live on a bus and we’re in a hotel room and sometimes we’re in the middle of nowhere and it’s not so great. It’s not all glamorous,” she told Redbook.

She routinely shares photos that depict the struggles of balancing her career with her family life. But Underwood recently decided it was time to take a break from singing so she could focus on being a mother. Judging from her recent photos, she’s enjoying her well-deserved break.

But even though she might not be there to tuck Isaiah in every night, there’s not doubt how much she loves her little boy.

“I definitely feel like [motherhood] changed me as a person. I’m happier. I’m in a better mood a lot of the time. He’ll be watching cartoons and I’ll be watching him. I’m completely in love,” she said. “I love it when he’s sleepy and I get to hold him and smell him. He doesn’t know I’m staring at him and being all googly-eyed!”

So sweet! We hope Isaiah will appreciate his mom’s sacrifices when he’s older.
