13 Betty White Quotes That Will Make You Laugh Through Your Tears

Tags:

As saddened as we were by the news of Betty White’s passing on New Year’s Eve, just weeks before she would have celebrated her 100th birthday, reading some of the best Betty White quotes from over the years is helping us smile through our tears. For nearly eight decades, the beloved comedian made us laugh so hard we cried. We loved her as the always perky Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and we’ll always remember her iconic role as Rose Nylund from St. Olaf on The Golden Girls. Lucky for us, her work will live on forever — and below are just a few of the gems she left us with.

Whether she was talking about aging (“The older you get, the better you get. Unless you’re a banana.”), her preferred method of exercise (“I have a two-story house and a bad memory, so I’m up and down those stairs all the time. That’s my exercise.”), or her favorite foods (“Hot dogs and Red Vines and potato chips and French fries …”), this Hollywood legend always had a unique way with words. We can’t get enough of these Betty White quotes, and we bet there are some here you’ve never heard. (She wasn’t always just funny, either — some of these are sweet and sincere.)

Over the years, Betty White was generous with her wisdom (and her joyful smile). “Now that I’m 91, as opposed to being 90, I’m much wiser,” she once said. These quotes are some of her best (and our favorite). Read through them for a laugh or two next time you need it — and share them with a friend who could use a pick-me-up. We bet it would make Betty happy to know she’s still making people smile, even after her death.

We’ll always love you, Betty!
