Mom Loses Only Two Pounds But the Difference Is Stunning

Losing weight might seem like it’s all about numbers. How many calories does this piece of chocolate have? How many steps have I walked today? How many pounds have I lost this week? While the goal of losing weight really is to lose pounds, numbers can be deceiving.

Adrienne Osuna, a fitness guru and mother of four young boys, highlighted the importance of loving your body instead of obsessing about numbers. She posted a transformation photo on Instagram that has her followers applauding. So how much has she lost? Two whole pounds.

One look at the photo, and it’s obvious that Osuna has been spending a lot of time at the gym. And the best part? Osuna says she didn’t have to diet to see the results. Her secret: body recomposition! She “lost fat [and] gained muscle.”

A simple definition of body recomposition is “the process of reducing body fat and adding muscle mass,” according to Physiqonomics.com. Essentially, Osuna, who described her workout regimen as “no dieting, just heavy lifting,” replaced her fat with muscle.

On her website, Mama of Four Getting Fit, Osuna talks about her yo-yo dieting. After losing 60 pounds, she quit dieting and took up heavy lifting and “fell in love.” Since then she’s lost three dress sizes, “and the scale still hasn’t moved.” She is photo proof of the saying “muscle weighs more than fat,” and she feels great! “The scale doesn’t measure fat versus muscle,” she wrote.

And she’s right! There are lots of reasons to want to lose weight, and numbers will always be used as benchmarks, but instead of beating ourselves up because of the number on the scale, we should be working out to feel good in our bodies. Numbers don’t dictate your self-worth!

We applaud her message! More of this, please.
